Entrepreneurship is associated with introducing new ideas and concepts within the marketplace and different industries like the healthcare sector. The entrepreneurs play a major role in providing innovative solutions to the business and increasing the overall productivity and performance of the organization. It brings out multiple opportunities within their business enterprises, and the major principles associated with entrepreneurship include leadership, responsibility, humbleness, passion and management (Bai et al., 2021). All these principles play a major role in introducing innovative solutions in the external market and strengthening the competitive advantage. The process of entrepreneurship includes identifying an opportunity, establishing a vision, persuading others, gathering resources, and creating a new service or product within the market that is adopted by the internal and external stakeholders of the healthcare sector. The entrepreneurship process can either increase the chances of success or failure of the organizations. The healthcare organization that will be targeted within the current essay is Beyond Recovery, which is a social enterprise that was founded in 2014. The social enterprise's mission is to revolutionize the strategies to deal with addiction and mental health issues. The business has introduced different entrepreneurship approaches to provide the patients with high-quality services along with the involvement of the criminal justice system. The business has opted for innovative ideas to achieve the mission and vision of the organization. Beyond Recovery is one of the fastest growing social enterprises that has been helping individuals to deal with their offending behaviour and to address complex mental health issues along with drug and alcohol problems. The three values the organization focuses on include hope, resilience, and purpose in life (Timmerman et al., 2011). The current assignment aims to highlight the entrepreneurial practices introduced within Beyond Recovery for its success or failure. The essay will include a critical appraisal of the behaviours and attributes that improve its entrepreneurial activities and the use of ethical frameworks to dictate the role of social enterprise.


The organizations can be either for-profit or nonprofit based on their purpose and functions. A for-profit organization is defined as a business being run to provide individuals or a group of individuals with profits. A nonprofit organization provides the public with mutual benefits (Bacq and Janssen, 2021). Different entities are associated with nonprofit organizations, including nonprofit distribution, public benefit, and self-governing and voluntary entities. These nonprofit organizations focus on a public service mission and are exempt from paying taxes (Melder et al., 2018). Beyond Recovery is a nonprofit organization with the public service mission of dealing with addiction and other mental health issues within the governance structures to ensure a financial gain. The business has introduced different forms of entrepreneurial strategies to introduce innovative ideas for meeting the organizational mission and vision. The theoretical perspective behind the nonprofit organization is the political science theory based on civic participation. According to the principle of political science theory, the communities take part in dealing with a certain local issue to benefit the public and control that local issue (Lall & Sahai, 2008). Beyond Recovery has targeted the local issue of addiction and mental health challenges to provide the public with benefits. The organizational and operational functioning and its aims and objectives are based on this theoretical approach that presents a relationship between health care provision policies and the community to address the health care issues (Kuratko, 2016).

Along with the usage of this theoretical approach, the organization has also introduced a distance learning buddy scheme to help the community and ensure its well-being. This approach is based on entrepreneurial principles to improve participants' well-being and develop the potential within them to deal with their health care and other issues. Other than these approaches and interventions, the business has also introduced different leadership practices based on the involvement of the criminal justice system and to transform the lives of the individuals based on three principles. The business has introduced three basic principles within its organizational setting that is the key to improving its chances of success (Ippoliti et al., 2018). These three principles are the basic entrepreneurial approaches that Beyond Recovery uses to increase the chances of success and achieve the organization's mission and vision.Moreover, the organization has introduced these principles based on the involvement of advocacy and problem identification. The principles of advocacy and problem identification help meet the community's needs and provide them with mental and physical support. It is the responsibility of nonprofit organizations to consider the theoretical perspective of advocacy and problem identification. According to this, nonprofit organizations play a major part in the identification of the social and political concerns to support the people who are being underrepresented and integrate different perspectives within social and political life (Brown and Slivinski, 2018). Beyond Recovery follows the same principle as a nonprofit organization and has targeted people with drug addiction or those suffering from other mental health issues (Herbst et al., 2021). The for-profit organizations are associated with the social enterprise in which the social entrepreneur plays a part in engaging social innovation and creating positive social changes through their innovations. Social entrepreneurship also recognizes the social problems that seek the opportunity to provide the community with benefits through different principles, processes, and operations (Gup et al., 2018). Beyond Recovery is also based on social entrepreneurship that aims to obtain social and economic benefits to improve the business's competitive advantage. Some of the tactics used by the founder of Beyond Recovery organization to increase the chances of its success include pursuing a mission to create social value, applying, and adapting to the business strategies, and maintaining the financial and program accountability to the constituents. The entrepreneur of Beyond Recovery organization considered all these principles and values, which increases the chances of its success and overall profitability (Battle, 2021). Other attributes that are a basic component of the organization include its innovative ideas and values to recognize the opportunity and to increase the chances of continually building skills (He, 2018). It results in managing their risk and staying accountable to the stakeholder to achieve the organizational aims and objectives.

The examination of the entrepreneurial practices within beyond Recovery indicated that the business had introduced different entrepreneurship models to provide the community with highly effective health care services. Entrepreneurial behaviour is based on identifying different possibilities and ideas into action and focusing on the necessities by demanding ingenuity, personal initiative, and determination. These are some of the behavioural characteristics that are associated with the entrepreneurial model. The three basic entrepreneurship models include industrial expertise, management expertise, and entrepreneurial experience (Wulfovich & Meyers, 2020). The presence of these elements contributes to increasing the chances of their business success, as in the case of Beyond Recovery. The organization has focused on the development of maintaining healthcare expertise along with highly effective management and entrepreneurial experiences. The presence of these three models contributes to increasing the chances of achieving organizational success and focusing on business development. The basic model of the intrapreneurial processes is based on incorporating five phases. These faces include idea generation, opportunity evaluation, planning, company formation, and growth (Wright & Schultz, 2018). Beyond Recovery has incorporated these stages within its organization to increase business opportunities and to enhance the chances of success based on the succession of activities to facilitate the community (Wiener et al., 2020).

The mission and vision of Beyond Recovery are to help people deal with their mental health issues and other alcohol and drug problems that are the basic part of the criminal justice system. In this context, the health care organization has focused on the involvement of evidence-based intervention to hence the individuals in improving their well-being and their mental health and behaviour within the prison. Likewise, these principal approaches will contribute to increasing the satisfaction and the purpose of life within the individuals. Some of the major tactics incorporated within the entrepreneurship model of the health care organization include that it focuses on the involvement of efficiency within communities and relationships and introducing opportunities to ensure the recovery from intractable diagnosis. The entrepreneurship model of the business involves three basic principles to ensure intellectual credibility and to treat the illness faced by the community. The basic aim of the model is to provide the community with teaching regarding health rather than focusing on treating that illness. It adopts the view that this entrepreneurship model focuses on the involvement of sustaining inner mental health (Teck et al., 2020). Therefore, considering all these principles highlights the importance of intrinsic well-being in people suffering from mental health or drug addiction issues. The improvement of well-being and realizing the importance of better life is one of the primary focuses of the health care organization due to, which involves different leadership and management approaches by including peer mentors and pilot practitioner programs. These programs help teach individuals suffering from health issues and develop a deeper understanding and experience within the communal world. The analysis of the entire scenario dictated that the business has also involved the Timmons model of entrepreneurship. This model highlights the fact that entrepreneurship is nothing but is based on opportunity-driven factors. The association of the entrepreneurship model with the case study scenario dictates that the organization was focused on including different opportunities to increase the health care organization's competence and enhance the chances long-term success. It also brings the right opportunity within the business to achieve the organizational goals and maintain the resources and values. This model also dictates that entrepreneurship is based on the way of thinking, reasoning, and acting based on the described opportunity. This opportunity is a holistic approach and is based on leadership practices. Beyond Recovery included the basic leadership and management principles to increase their chances of opportunity, success, and competitive advantage (Teck et al., 2020).

The integrated entrepreneurship model also focuses on the perspective that the entrepreneurial organization needs to posit motivation, opportunity, and different entrepreneurial intention to maintain subjective norms and focus on perceived behavioural control. The advocation of these values as per the integrated model of entrepreneurship helps increase the chances of long-term business success and fulfilling the societal and communal needs of the health care organization. However, the evaluation of these business models indicated that these entrepreneurship models also have certain limitations that can increase the chances of organizational failure. Some of the limitations of their entrepreneurship models include that it sometimes results in making wrong decisions and providing poor quality analysis of the business plan. It can also cause multiple ethical and legal problems that can decline management and leadership values (da Silva Siqueira et al., 2021).

Beyond Recovery needs to focus on the barriers to entrepreneurship that can impact the business performance and its overall profitability. The founder and the organization's leaders must focus on the barriers to entrepreneurship that can increase the chances of business failure. Some of the barriers associated with entrepreneurship include managing finance, human resource problem, and non-strategic planning (Wiener et al., 2020). Sometimes, political, legal, and other external barriers can also come in the way of implementing entrepreneurship approaches. Therefore, Beyond Recovery needs to focus on the barriers and limitations of the entrepreneurship model to increase the chances of their business success and maintain the overall competitive advantage. The sociological theory of entrepreneurship also dictates that the entrepreneurs must consider different social and communal factors to increase the chances of organizational opportunity and to fulfil the social and communal values (Emami et al., 2020). The implementation of this sociological theory on the Beyond Recovery organization dictates that the business focuses on providing society with support and education to deal with their mental health issues. This perspective includes different ethical beliefs and social values and supports the individual. The anthropological theory of entrepreneurship is also associated with the Beyond Recovery model, which dictates that an organization must consider the social and cultural context to provide the community with the services and to maintain a competitive position within the external market (Saha & Ray, 2017).

Overall, the analysis of the entrepreneurial models and their association with Beyond Recovery dictates that the business has maintained a competitive advantage to increase the chances of organizational success and focus on the mission and vision of the business. Beyond Recovery introduced different leadership and management approaches to achieve organizational goals and improve the chances of business success. All the characteristics of behavioural entrepreneurship are considered by the organization that increases its propensity to take risks and improve the chances of self-confidence. Other than this, the operational practices of Beyond Recovery also dictate that it increases the chances of tolerance of ambiguity and innovativeness. This tolerance improved the entrepreneurial intention, due to which the business can enhance the chances of its overall success and develop multiple opportunities for the need of achievement. These entrepreneurial behaviours are also associated with the psychological values to focus on business operations and productivity. Hence, the Beyond Recovery organization has involved all these characteristics in maintaining the locus of control and taking the risk and innovativeness (Garbuio & Wilden, 2018).

The ethical frameworks also play a major part in entrepreneurship, and it helps the organization initiate moral intuitions and clarify the ethics and values. This framework reduces the chances of conflict of interest within the organizations and clarifies the relevant features from different business perspectives. Different ethical frameworks are also associated with improving the chances of decision-making. Incorporating these ethical frameworks improves the efficiency of decision-making and increases operational efficiency (Poblete & Mandakovic, 2020). This ethical framework provides a step-by-step process that the organization follows to outline the aspects of ethical solutions based on the problems faced by the business. Another ethical framework that will be implemented within the beyond recovery case study is the virtue approach. This approach is based on considering moral values for the fulfillment of humanity values and staying consistent. Some of the moral values highlighted within the virtual approach include courage, generosity, fidelity, self-control, compassion, and tolerance. All these ethical values help increase the chances of effectiveness within decision-making and control the chances of risks or challenges. The rights approach is an ethical framework that focuses on maintaining the dignity and rights of the community. Different lists of moral and ethical values are focused on the rights approach to increase the chances of business success and control the chances of harm. Beyond Recovery has implemented the ethical values and principles to give me unity with moral and ethical support. However, the analysis of the business vision and mission statement dictated that the business had not highlighted the ethical values that it has been following. It needs to focus on the involvement of the ethical frameworks and approaches to avoid the chances of conflict and to decrease the chances of business failure (Pereyra et al., 2021). The organization has maintained business proficiency and excellence by using entrepreneurship principles and decision-making strategies. Ethical values are also a part of the organization that contributes to facilitating the business progress and improving the overall reach in the national and international settings (Hoxha & Haska, 2019).

Conclusion and recommendations:

To conclude, the above report was based on the analysis of entrepreneurship practices within the case study organization Beyond Recovery. Beyond Recovery has been providing consumers with health care practices to deal with mental health and addiction-related issues. It is a for-profit and social enterprise that provides consumers with support and teaching to improve their mental health and well-being. The business has incorporated entrepreneurship and leadership values within its operational practices to maintain the business structure and to make decisions for providing the patient with health care services. The organization has also given rise to entrepreneurial activity to develop profit and to maintain the social values and principles to support the community. The organization uses different leadership and entrepreneurial models to focus on maintaining business ethics and moral values. These entrepreneurial models contribute to developing business competency and increasing the competitive advantage.

The business needs to focus on the following recommendations to improve its competitive advantage and deal with the challenges it has been facing. The recommendations will contribute to increasing the chances of business success and improving the overall profitability:

i.The organization needs to consider the involvement of the ethical framework within its business to improve the moral values within the business setting. The common good approach is one of the efficient approaches that will make decisions in improving the business reasoning as well as in maintaining the business practice in compliance with the system of law. This will increase the chances of business success as well as in fulfilling the requirements of reasoning to achieve business success (Kaandorp et al., 2020).

ii.The business also needs to incorporate the expertise decision-making approach that will help the organization make decisions for providing the patients with highly effective healthcare services. Expertise in decision-making contributes to controlling the possibilities of harm and addressing the constraints that can impact organizational performance.

iii.The decision-making approach must also be rational, logical, and economical to make decisions to improve the business's competitive advantage. The steps of decision making and the approaches that will be considered include the investigation of the organizational situation, creation of a constructive environment, generating good alternatives and exploring the options to take action to find the appropriate solution (Pacifico Silva et al., 2018). This will help Beyond Recovery in improving the competency and in enhancing the well-being of the participants.

iv.The business organization also needs to build relationships with external stakeholders. Building the relationship with the stakeholders and providing the right support through the community will help the organization increase its organizational reach in international settings and accelerate the programs to improve well-being (Li & Garnsey, 2020).
