Executive Summary

This Literature review is based on the facts and evaluations which will be analyzing the Cloud based information system. Firstly a literature review will be given on the cloud based system. In which we will be discussing the challenges which this system face in the form of security issues, there overall cost management, lack of resources as latest technology is updated every day in the market, properly controlling the system and compliance with the rules and regulations which the system vendors need to fulfill while transferring the system to cloud based form. Then we will evaluate the performance of the system by presenting various testing points which can be used by the system governing persons and then summarizing the whole report.

Introduction:

Cloud base information system is a structure in which user can access the data, applications and information resources from cloud data storage through the internet. User or organization do not have to physically keep and maintain the network infrastructure of information system at their own premises. Cloud based  information system have increased the capacity and reduced the cost of user. Besides many advantage there are some challenges to adopt the could based information system for which engineers and developers are working to make the system work more effectively and efficiently.

Literature Review

The Cloud based  information system is referred to a term that allows to make the application, information and resources available to the user through the internet from a cloud computing provider’s server. Now a days many individuals and organizations are using Cloud based  information system to increase the capacity and enhance the functionality of the processes by the use Cloud based  infrastructure and without having expensive and complicated infrastructure in their own premises or to hire specialized staff to operate and maintain this infrastructure[1]. Cloud based  information system has now become much popular in the IT industry from the last decade and is widely used worldwide as it has connected the industry worldwide.

Challenges of Cloud Based Information System.

Cloud based  information system is very beneficial for the industry as it has helped many organizations to increased their productivity also in reducing the cost. Besides many benefits there are some challenges of Cloud based information system which are discussed below.

Security Issue

Security risk of Cloud based  information system has become one of the top concerns in these days.  User have no physical access to its data if it is stored on a Cloud based  system. Also, the Cloud based  information system is access through internet and there are changes for the hackers to access and manipulate the information and or steal the confidential information through the cloud servers[2]. To keep the data secure it is necessary for the organization to take network security measures and also educate the network operators for best practices of network security.

Cost Management

One of the big challenges of Cloud based  information system involves the cost. However, in most cases could computing can save money for many businesses and the business can easily enhance its capabilities in nominal cost. But if a business is setting up its own Cloud based  information system rather than hiring a third party service, it could be quite complicated and expensive and charge a handsome cost to the business.

Lack of resources

Another challenge on Cloud based  information system is the lack of resources and expertise. Associations are progressively putting more and more burdens in the Cloud based  information system whereas cloud technology is getting  advance. By these variables, organizations are having some intense period staying aware of the apparatuses. Likewise, the requirement for ability keeps on developing. These difficulties can be limited through extra training and development of IT staff.

Governance

Governance and control are also a big challenge for Cloud based  information system. A proper IT governance and control should be ensured that the IT infrastructure and resources are being utilized as er the policies and the procedures defined, also to ensured that the cloud infrastructure is properly controlled and maintained to work as per the organization’s strategy and goals.

Compliance

One of the challenges of Cloud based  information system now a days today is compliance. That is an issue for anybody utilizing cloud backup. Whenever an organization transfer its data from their internal storage to a cloud storage they have to comply with the rules and regulations of their respective industry[3]. Users and organizations must ensure that their cloud vendors meet the requirements of regulations and law and regulates the standards they need.

Evaluation of Performance of Cloud based Information System

Cloud based information system may only become feasible substitutes for normal organization information systems if they offer a appropriate level of performance. Hence, engineers began to evaluate the performance of Cloud based information system as soon as these services turn into available in order to make available a standard to likely users for making conclusions regarding Cloud service adoption. The standard measurement performance in Cloud testbed consists of the steps i.e. initially, engineers or developers need to stipulate the purpose and scope of the test, and then classify the features of the cloud services to be tested [4]. The next step is to evaluate the performance metrics to be analyzed and select the appropriate test applications. In that case the test site should be set up and a test drive should be performed.

There are a series of testing procedures for all features disturbing the performance of cloud based information system. These processes are being developed [5]. Some of these selected conditions are considered based on the value and procedure in the simulation. It has to be means that all the conditions listed in the case categories include the items specified in the previous section but some of the items will be important in the special process [6] as follows:

  1. Average response time
  2. Network capacity per second (Mbps), the most important thing associated with it through this process network bandwidth, availability and feasibility.
  3. No of I / O commands per second (IOPS)
  4. Average waiting time per unit time
  5. Workload (requests) to be provided per second (Mbps) or time unit
  6. Throughput (Req / Sec), this policy will be restored to recovery, retention capacity processing energy features
  7. Average processing time (exe / sec)
  8. Percentage of CPU usage
  9. No of requests made per session
  10. No of requests per unit of time
  11. No of applications rejected each time

Conclusion

So in our conclusion we will be summarizing the literature review for cloud based systems. Cloud based information system have increased the capacity and reduced the cost of user. There are a series of testing procedures for all features disturbing the performance of cloud based information system. The standard measurement performance in Cloud testbed consists of the steps i.e. initially, engineers or developers need to stipulate the purpose and scope of the test, and then classify the features of the cloud services to be tested.

We also discussed some challenges of Cloud based information system which include security issues, cost of management, lack of resources, governance and compliance. Cloud based information system may only become feasible substitutes for normal organization information systems if they offer a appropriate level of performance.
