Week 1

Reflective Account

This week we launched the reflective module, one of the lectures explain the assignment and how is slip into two which is the reflective journal and the reflective account on flipped learning we are asked to complete selfawareness tips. This was overwhelming as we must reflect on our self, others, and the contextawareness.

SelfAwareness

So What?

This was hard for me as I find it difficult to talk in public, this makes me more nervous. One of the scores of my drivers is “please people ”, I always get nervous when I do not know what I am doing and coping around new people and have to talk in front of people Kahler .t (1975 ).  One of the lectures explain the importance of this module, and how to reflect on yourself. Another lecturer explains how everyone is feeling in the pandemic, and how that reflects on nurses. For example, COVID’19.

Now What

This has helped me to reflect on how to be a good person and not think of the negative aspect of myself, as a student nurse I have learned the concept to be positive always. and not think about what is coming shortly. As nursing have different challenges at different time.

Week 2

 What?

This week in our group, we are divided into two groups. At first, we were asked to introduce ourselves to the group, I felt nervous talking in front of my group members, and it is a must that, everyone most introduce themselves. However, this got better as the discussion progressed. We are asked to present a presentation.

So, What?

The presentation was interesting, my group members participate well, I was the last person to present in the group. At first, I was nervous and anxious. To me, it’s usually because as it is my first time and presenting my word to the group. This sometimes affects me as I will have it in mine, but when it is time to present, I would be able to bring out words properly. This in general always make me not to talk in public, because I always have the fear that people will laugh at me. After doing my drivers questionnaire I scored Be perfect and Try hard.  one group member  felt emotional and started crying while she was  presenting her  work  She later manger her  emotion, she also apply emotional intelligence, Nursing and Midwifery Council (2018) states that nurses should demonstrate resilience and emotional intelligence and be capable of explaining the rationale that influences their judgments and decisions in routine

Now What?

This weeks discussion I have learned that to have confidence in yourself and how to work on your inner self is important, especially in nursing. (Nursing time 2020). One thing I will take forward is to have compassion and the need to promote individuality. Compassion benefits to accept people the way they are. (NHS England,2020) To enhance my knowledge, I will try and be able to express myself in public.

Week 3

Other Awareness

In the third week of our BBB sessions, we discuss Otherawareness and further considered different reflective models and emotional intelligence which include motivation, empathy, and social skills.

So, What?

Our lecturer further discussed transactional Analysis in detail, we all contributed to the discussion. It was interesting how other members explain their ego stages. We take in rounds in everyone who explained their ego stages. We discussed about transactional Analysis, one of them member talked about

Now What?

In this week’s discussion, I have gained confidence and I have learned to be tolerant. As a future nurse, I will communicate effectively, apply emotional intelligence, and manage emotions effectively during crisis. I will enhance my knowledge by taking responsibility for continuous selfreflection, seeking support and feedback to develop my professional knowledge and skills (NMC, 2018)

Week 4

Other Awareness

What?

In this week’s discussion on our BBB we continued with Other Awareness, we discussed about therapeutic relationship. We later went to our small group and continued discussing about Other awareness. Transactional Analysis, another member in our group explain when she has enough with some approach from people., another member explains how sometimes her adult stage change to child stage.  We later discussed the importance of therapeutic relationship, Carl Rogers and Person centeredness, the importance of empathy in nursing. we also discussed about the Johari window.

So, What?

In our small group, we talk about the formative assignment, the layout of the assignment, and how to submit it. Our lectures explained to us in details how to submit our work and where to submit.  Later asked her about the topic I sued for the reflective practice how will like to link that to my topic. She explains to me   and I later understand what I need to do, other member also asked question, it was well explained

Now What?

This week I have gained insight on how to so empathy, and how to be able to manage my emotions., especially in nursing, and learned to be tolerant towards others as people deal with different situations in their lives. I also learn how important effective communication is in nursing (NMC,2018).

Week 5

What?

This week we talked about organizational culture in nursing for, ways to overtake challenges in nursing. For example, during this pandemic, how nurses tackle the challenge. Nightingale, A. (2017).  The importance and role of nurse and patient and nurse relationships (NMC 2018).

So, What?

This was interesting as it hard for other people or a team to cope with some challenges.   As a nurse, you need to be competent to be able to do certain things. Nurses should be able to build a nurturing culture of improvement. (NHS 2005). Move over to effectively deliver this responsibility and to secure the continuous improvements in quality this important for nurses to have good skills. (NHS,2018).

Now What?

One thing I have gained from this week’s discussion is not to be judgemental. One thing I will take forward is to obey organization policies however I will always make decisions that are in the best interests of the patients. I will enhance my knowledge by familiarizing myself with the organizational policies.

Week 6

This week on our BBB session we continue with context awareness. We talk about the ideas of nursing emotional labour. One of the lecturers discussed how nurses sometimes feel emotional and how to build a therapeutic relationship and essential care. She explains how nurses are human and sometimes they cannot help their emotions, and how nurses need to work with emotions.

So, What?

This tough me how to build your resilience and how to acknowledge to be competent in nursing. Boorman report 2009, help states on how to build resilience. Also talked about the peer’s support and selfcare and emotional intelligence.

Now What?

I learn the benefit of maintaining anger in professionals and how to manage emotions at work, I also learn how to apply emotional intelligence. In support of this, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (2018) states that nurses should demonstrate resilience and emotional intelligence and be capable of explaining the rationale that influences their judgments and decisions in routine, complex, and challenging situations.
