LITERATURE REVIEW:

Multiple research is conducted to see the relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and obesity. Wang et al. (2019) researched the relationship between the sedentary lifestyle and being overweight in Chinese adults. The findings reported a store relationship between these variables, resulting to cause multiple health issues for obese persons. Navti et al. (2017) claim that physical activities within daily life highly contribute to increasing the role of sedentary lifestyle within the population. Sedentary lifestyle results in causing obesity and other health issues within the adults. Also, diet is a major compromising factor in increasing obesity. The lack of physical activity and diet management results in causing a reduction in the metabolic rate, and the decreased metabolic rate causes emergence of obesity within the population. The current research aims to analyse sedentary lifestyle and obesity and consider the gaps in the previous literature review based on the following research questions.

RESEARCH QUESTION:

The research is aimed at highlighting different factors associated with a sedentary lifestyle and its involvement in the development of obesity

These are the research questions that the research will be addressing.

i     What factors are involved in short term consequence of sedentary lifestyle?

ii     How does behavioural epidemiology framework contributes in depicting sedentary lifestyle and obesity?

iii     What is the relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and obesity?

METHODOLOGY

The methodology followed to achieve the research aims and objectives will be based on the secondary data collection. Secondary data collection involves the new analysis of the previous raw data set based on the research questions aims and objectives. It allows the researcher to find a new approach based on the research topic.

DATA ANALYSIS:

The data analysis will be done based on the secondary data collection. The approach to be used within the research will be the empirical analysis. The empirical analysis is based on the evidence based approach and will reflect on the study and interpretation of the previously present information. It is based on real world datas metrics, theories, and concepts. So, the data will be analysed bas4d on the primarily present experiences related to the research topic. The steps involved in analysing the empirical research include the purpose of the study, supporting thesis based on the previous literature, depiction of hypotheses statement and measurement, methodology and data collection, analysis and conclusion. This is how the empirical analysiss step by step approach will be followed to find out the research questions.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The research design of the current study will follow qualitative research analysis. Qualitative research collects and analyses data using a deductive approach based on the Interpretivism philosophy (Fusch & Ness, 2015). Qualitative research does not involve statistical analysis and aims to discover a social phenomenon by observing society. It might involve interviews, case studies and the analysis of the previously present data. The empiricism approach will be followed in the qualitative analysis to find out the evidence and facts related to the research topic. The qualitative empirical approach will be based on the observation and measurements of the previously present raw data set. (Connelly, 2016).

Research paradigm:

The research paradigm will follow interpretivism to research philosophy to understand the social phenomenon subjectively by observing the world around. This research philosophy helps in better analysis of the social environment. Despite this, it also helps analyse the social phenomenon based on the human acts and scientific explanation of the research topic. Implementing this philosophy will also help provide the subjective interpretation of the theoretical concepts related to the research topic (Pathak et al., 2013). The interpretivism approach will support the qualitative research approach to find out the themes and patterns of the topic.

Sample and sampling strategy:

Secondary data will be selected in the current research in which data from the previously present research articles will be analysed. The empirical research approach will be used here to analyse the data qualitatively. Different themes and patterns will be identified based on the thematic analysis (Noble & Smith, 2015). Also, exclusion and the inclusion criteria will be followed for the selection of the raw data set, which is as follows:

Inclusion criteria:

  1. Peer reviewed research articles.
  2. Research articles within the previous ten years.

iii. Complete researches

Exclusion criteria:

  1. Empirical researches having only abstracts will be rejected.
  2. Researches that does not fall in the above criteria will not be a part of the research.

Data collection:

The desired empirical data will be achieved by using different keywords to select the articles. Different academic resources will be used to find out the researches based on the research topic. After getting access to different researches, the empirical data will be filtered based on the above inclusion and exclusion criteria. After getting the desired raw data, the next step will be the data analysis, including the descriptive analysis of the variables to find the social phenomenon. The qualitative analysis will help depict the social phenomenon and the related variables influencing the sedentary lifestyle (Grossoehme, 2014). After that, the gap within the empirical data will be considered to reflect the research questions considered within the research. The empiricism approach will help reflect a new approach based on the gap within the previous literature review.

Ethical considerations:

All the ethical considerations will be considered in the research, including anonymity, confidentiality, integrity, and honesty (Connelly, 2014). Implementing these ethical considerations will improve the validity and reliability of the research. Other than this, all the findings will be honestly reported, and authors will be acknowledged likewise. This is how all the ethical principles and values will be considered within the research.
